Let me tell you something personal about myself: I'm thinking about spacing out my ellipses. I'm a little bit against it, because I'm worried that people will notice, and they'll wonder why I did it. Maybe they'll assume it's peer pressure, or an attempt to... I don't know... curry favor. I don't want to change it, because I don't want to look like I'm spending this much time and energy to consider how my text appears; I don't want to seem self-conscious. But by analyzing this and determining that I shouldn't change the way I space my ellipses, I am in fact becoming self-conscious, even if I no longer seem this way.

Now I've got to compose a wish list for computer parts.

You need to make a real post one of these days!

I mean, hell, I added you to my friends' list because you were the first person to respond to my first post on IC, which was about Chrono Trigger I believe. Your response was "amen to that." A few months later you wrote a delicious response to my Final Fantasy X thread.

I don't really post in IC anymore.

Start posting more, dude!

A few years back, I knew a guy who put ellipses every three words in his posts. He needed to change his posting habits. You don't seem to use them that much, but I suppose that outside of Pyoko and LJ I don't really know you that much.

Still no nohari!

You don't love us. You are simply determined to make both Stephen and myself look like mean bastards.

I recently switched to the spaced ellipsis. I went through the same thought process. In the end, I decided that all of those problems plus the fact that the ellipsis would become more work, key-presses wise, would encourage me to use the cursed punctuation less, thus improving my writing.

Hmmm...

I generally only space ellipsis on paper, which (and thank goodness for that) I don't get to do very often. I think the rule of most non academic writing is that certain things, like spaced (. . .) ellipsis and two spaces between periods are optionals, as it is commonly understood that it's okay to save time formatting certain uses of text.

brevity is . . . wit.*

* the notation ". . ." obliges one to pronounce "dot-dot-dot" aloud.

Tim Rogers often uses spaced ellipses. I don't, but I've briefly thought about it.
