Windows Media Player Woes
Jul. 12th, 2003 01:23 amThe previous version of WMP worked fine for me, but the last time an automatic update arrived, I downloaded it without really worrying too much. Unfortunately, doing so has caused the following error to plague me:
Responding with a yes brings me to the download page, where I re-download the installer, run it, and bring WMP up again. It works the first time; every time after that, the error appears again. This sucks. What can I do to fix it?
Edit: Actually, I solved this problem. I'm pretty sure one of the comments to this post contains the solution I used.
The file wmp.dll has a version number of 9.0.0.3008 where 9.0.0.2980 was expected.
Windows Media Player was not installed properly and must be reinstalled.
Do you want to install the Player from the Microsoft Web site?
