When I was in the 9th grade, I started going to M:TG tournaments ... mostly so I could meet boys. Then I realized that most of them weren't the sort of boys I was hoping to meet.
If you'd been there, I would have stuck with it for sure!
Aww. Thanks, Catherine! That's sweet of you. Sorry you didn't have any luck, though. But you're right--while it can work for boys, I typically don't recommend it for girls. On the other hand, girl gamers get to be much more choosy, so perhaps it's not such a bad deal.
Or enlightening, I guess. Depending on your perspective.
Incidentally, will you be engaging in self-mummification? I've seen a program on monks that do that. It's impressive, if a bit of a one-time-only deal.
One of the guys in our group works at the local Air Force base. This girl had just been stationed here for about two weeks, and apparently she mentioned she'd played before, so he invited her.
We hit it off at the game. She prepared my cup-o'-ramen, I chatted with her during breaks, and we exchanged phone numbers.
It probably doesn't hurt that she's a lot more proactive about these things than I am.

Date: 2004-09-13 02:16 pm (UTC)Fear not, I could tell it's not a bad thing... You just sounded a little quizzical about it, as in a "huh? what, now?" way.
And the best way to get used to the idea is probably just to relax and enjoy the ride. Isn't it always the case? ;)

Date: 2004-10-20 12:59 am (UTC)It helps that I had some good advice. Hell, I suspect that advice link may have saved my life, in fact.
